Tricky Castle & Lost in Play

When puzzles stop being hard and start being honest — finishing Tricky Castle & Lost in Play

Tricky Castle and Lost in Play look playful on the surface, but after finishing both, I realized they test something very different from skill.

They test how you think when the rules aren’t clear. Tricky Castle constantly lies to you. The obvious solution is usually wrong. It rewards suspicion, not logic.

Lost in Play does the opposite. It trusts you. It invites curiosity, imagination, and patience rather than tricking you.

What surprised me most is that neither game is really about “winning.”

They’re about unlearning habits:

Stop assuming patterns will repeat Stop rushing Stop trusting the UI more than your intuition Finishing both back-to-back felt like two sides of the same lesson: One game breaks your expectations. The other rebuilds them gently.

Which puzzle game changed how you think, not just how well you play?
